The following itinerary – Tour Rome, Florence and Venice by train – is an example of a possible route with various activities. It can reorganized to fit your interests, budget and schedule. It can also be combined with any of the other programs on our website.

Day 1 Arrival in Palermo

Land in Palermo airport, Sicily’s regional capitol. Transfer on your own to central hotel. After check-in the remainder of the day is free.

This is a vacation for all seasons. With its splendid climate, magnificent ancient treasures and great beauty, Sicily is truly a feast for yhe senses.  (Tour southern Italy).

Palermo – 1° Overnight

Day 2 – Palermo

After your breakfast in hotel, entire day to visit Palermo. Situated by the Tyrrhenian Sea at the foot of Mount Pellegrino, Palermo bears diverse influences of the past including Arab, Christian, Byzantine and Roman.

We suggest you to visit Palazzo dei Normanni (the Royal Palace) and view the dazzling of the Cappella Palatina with its glittering mosaics. Pass the Duomo and the Four Corners, where four Spanish Baroque palaces stand, and the Fountain of Shame, whose nude figures shocked its 16th century audience.

Your tour can continue on to nearby Monreale for a visit to the town’s magnificent Norman Cathedral and mosaics. (Tour southern Italy).

Day 3 – Erice

Spend the day at your leisure or choose to see some of the best-preserved Greek ruins in the Mediterranean area. After lunch you drive along the Tyrrhenian cost to the ancient ruins of Segesta to visit the impressive Doric Temple, left virtually intact and situeted on the windswept hill overlooking the valley.

Then on to Erice by the sea, an enchanting Medieval hill town that remained unchanged since the 6th century BC, built 700m above sea level on top of the mountain.

Day 4 – Agrigento

This morning, after your breakfast in hotel, your tour continue on to Mazara del Vallo, a fishing town that overlook the Strait of Sicily. Proceed to Marsala, where you will can visit the seaside resort known for its wine production.

Your journey continue south through the Sicilian countryside to Agrigento. Along the way stop also at Selinunte to visit the Dorian Temple and the Acropolis. Arrive to Agrigento, whose history dates back to 580 BC. As you approach, look for Agrigento’s golden temples on the skyline. On this afternoon you will visit the Valley of the Temples, a magnificent cluster of Greek ruins overlooking the mediterranean Sea and probably the best preserved of their kind in the world. (Tour southern Italy).

Day 5 – Ragusa

After breakfast at your hotel, depart for the Baroque town of Piazza Armerina where you will view the famous mosaics of Villa Romana del Casale – a well-preserved Roman emporer’s country house.

Then drive to Caltagirone, famous for its majolica ware since the arab occupation (9th century).

Later you will drive south to Ragusa, The city has two distinct areas, the higher Ragusa Superiore (upper town) and the lower and older town of Ragusa Ibla. Ragusa Ibla hosts a wide array of Baroque architecture, including several stunning palaces and churches. (Tour southern Italy).

Day 6 – Siracusa

Today you head to Syracuse where you can visit the celebrated archeological Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre and more. Later, you walk on to Ortigia island to see such incredible building as the Temple of Apollo – excavated in 1943, the first large temple built by the Greek in Sicily. Don’t forget to stop at Modica and Noto, before arriving to Syracuse.

Day 7 – Taormina

After breakfast, follow the coastline north to Taormina, a mountaintop town of breathtaking natural beauty.

Along the way you can stop at Catania, the second-largest city of Sicily. Arrive to Taormina’s hotel, the rest of the day is free to explore this ancient and unique village in Sicily. Visit the Greek Amphitheater, a natural wonder carved out of a crater in the mountainside. The imposing peak of Mt. Etna dominates this magnificent scene. Witness the astonishing acoustics of the 2nd century Greek theater, still in use today. (Tour southern Italy).

Taormina – 7° Overnight

Day 8 – Taormina

Today continue to explore Taormina on your own. Magnificent beach and cliff walks are among the natural attractions. Or take a optional excursion to Mt. Etna where, weather and condictions permitting, you can climb to the top of the smoldering volcano. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to shop for hand-made lace on the Corso.

The full days free to enjoy at leisure. This evening, why not try one of the many restaurants for dinner to test the famous Sicilian cuisine. (Tour southern Italy).

Day 10 – Capri

Drop off your rental car in Catania airport and departure for Naples by plane. Just arrive transfer to Naples port for embarking on ferry-boat to Isle of Capri. Relax and dinner in our hotel.

Capri – 9° Overnight

Day 11 – 12 – Capri

Two days in Capri!!

Capri was a popular resort island since the days of the Roman Empire (for a decade, Tiberius even ran the Empire from here). Capri nestles in the impossibly blue Mediterranean Sea to the south of the Gulf of Naples.

Made famous by the jetset in the 1950s, today it remains a stunning island of Roman ruins and breathtaking landscapes, most famous for the fabulous Grotto Azzurra (Blue Grotto), which captivates all who visit it. Don’t forget to visit Villa San Michele in Anacapri and famous Faraglioni Rocks. (Tour southern Italy).

Day 13 – Rome

This morning after breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on ferry boat for Naples where you will transfer on your own to Central Rail Station and take the fast train Frecciarossa to Rome.

After check-in and lunch araound your central hotel in Rome, start to visit this splendid city, capitol of Italy.
You might go to the Trevi Fountain and Marcus Agrippa’s Pantheon, originally a pagan temple. Than head to Palazzo Madama, seat of the Senate of the Republic, to finally get to gorgeous Piazza Navona. You continue along the Via Sacra to the Roman Forum and the breathtaking Colosseum, the most famous monument of Ancient Rome. (Tour southern Italy).

Rome – 13° Overnight

Day 14 – Rome

Your day is free to explore this vibrant capitol city. We suggest you to go to Vatican City and see the St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums with Sistine Chapel.

After lunch you can cross the River Tiber to reach Ancient Rome but first pause in Piazza Venezia where you may take some pictures of the Wedding Cake or monument to Victor Emmanuel, the first king of Unified Italy. Later relax and sip a cappuccino and watch the world go by in a sidewalk cafee on the famous Via Veneto. This evening, why not try one of the many trattorias for dinner around the charming Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna. (Tour southern Italy).

According to departure schedules of the flight, the day is at leisure before travelling to Rome’s International Airport for your check in.
